Statement of aims

Northpoint Wellbeing Ltd is a registered charity and company limited by guarantee whose purpose is to promote emotional well-being.

The charity offers a range of therapeutic services for those experiencing emotional difficulties or distress in the Leeds & surrounding areas. We provide a safe space in where disturbed or difficult emotions can be expressed, considered, and contained.


We deliver services which help people to:


  • Better understand the issues they are experiencing


  • Consider choices and solutions open to them


  • Take steps towards making changes


We currently offer the following services, which are free at the point of delivery: All services are delivered in venues across the City. (In exceptional circumstances the LMWS service will consider home visits. All other services are unable to do so)


Leeds Mental Wellbeing Service

The service provides support and psychological therapies for common mental health problems, such as anxiety and depression, which one in four of us will experience in our lives. Support is available for those aged 17 and over who are registered with a Leeds GP.

Service operates Monday to Thursday between 9 am and 8 pm Friday 9 am to 4 pm.


School Counselling Leeds

Brief therapeutic interventions (normally 6-8 counselling sessions), in schools, for pupils & parents referred through cluster guidance & support teams. Clusters negotiate hours offered but the service does not operate outside of Monday to Friday between 9 am to 5 pm.


Early Start Counselling Service

Short-term counselling (6-12 sessions) for parents & carers of young children under 5, delivered through Children’s Centres in Leeds. This is a Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm service.


Calderdale CAMHS

Brief therapeutic interventions 6-8 sessions for children and young people. This is a Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm service


Emotional Health Service

Offering support to patients in GP surgeries in targeted areas of Leeds. This is a service that operates Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm, with additional telephone support for evenings and Saturday Mornings.


Fees are charged for the following 2 services.


Leeds Group Therapy

Slow open group therapy for self-referring clients with a range of issues, usually clients remain in the group for between 6 Months and 2 years. Fees are £5-£20 per week, dependent on income. This service is offered on a Tuesday afternoon and evening.


Private Therapy Service

A gateway to private therapy for private practitioners who work from our Leeds Base. Fees and working hours are set by the therapists and can vary.


All our services are delivered in accordance with the Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).  Some therapists, in addition work to the ethical standards of other professional associations (including the British Association for Behavioural & Cognitive Psychotherapies – BABCP, the British Association of Art Therapists – BAAT, and the United Kingdom Council for Counselling and Psychotherapy – UKCP).


Our services for adults are confidential. This means that all personal information disclosed will remain confidential within the organisation or within the NHS treatment pathway where relevant. Personal information may be shared with others outside these parameters in very rare circumstances, for example, where the risk of imminent severe harm to a client or others is present (and even in these circumstances, information will normally only be disclosed with a client’s informed consent). Information may also be shared where Northpoint has a legal duty to declare information received about terrorism and drug trafficking offences.


Our services for children and young people are also confidential, within limits.  While parents and school staff may know that a pupil is attending counselling, personal information disclosed in sessions will not normally be shared with them without the pupil’s permission, unless there are concerns for the pupil’s safety and wellbeing.
