World Wellbeing Week

Each June, people from across the globe come together to celebrate World Wellbeing Week. This awareness event takes place from 24 to 30 June, giving us the opportunity to reflect on our own wellbeing and emotional health, as well as considering wider care for the environment and communities.

The week also shines a spotlight on organisations across the globe, encouraging them to prioritise wellbeing within their strategies and celebrate their own activities.

Celebrating at Northpoint

To mark the week, we encouraged staff to get together in our Leeds office for a shared lunch. Our colleagues brought in various healthy treats for our charcuterie boards.

We got to know each other better, taking time away from our screens to catch up with colleagues and enjoy the food.

Looking after your own wellbeing

What better time to consider your own wellbeing than during World Wellbeing Week? Looking after our own mental health will help us to lead happier and healthier lives.

Five tips

Healthy diet, healthy mind – the secret to feeling good is making sure you’re eating a balanced diet. Try to get in your five fruit and vegetables each day, but don't forget to allow yourself treats every now and then.

Catch some z’s – getting good quality sleep helps us to feel refreshed, ready for the day ahead. Consider putting all digital screens away at least an hour before bed, and do something to help you relax – whether that’s a bath, reading, or meditation.

Embrace nature – getting outdoors is shown to reduce stress and improve mood, so it’s really a no-brainer. Try to find time during the day to go for a walk out in nature. Have a listen to the sounds and take time to observe the flora and fauna.

Get active – whether it’s a walk, run, gym trip or bike ride – exercise boosts our endorphins, firing up our brain’s feel-good neurotransmitters. It’s also a great way to reduce stress hormones, helping us feel relaxed.

Connect - positive social interactions can leave us feeling refreshed and connected with one another. This could be anything from reaching out to a friend or family member to chatting to a neighbour.
